The town of Strahan, on Macquarie Harbour, in western Tasmania.

On the East coast near Cranbrook, looking towards the Freycinet Peninsula.

The wild, empty country of western Tasmania, near the mining town of Savage River.

During his 2010 bike tour to Europe, my Australian friend Ash called in to see me. One day out on the bikes in June we stopped near Biaufond, on the Franco-Swiss border, in the gorges of the River Doubs.

The Australian bike is the same one that Ash's father lent me on my trip to Australia in 2008.

Lunch stop the following day at the Bellbird Creek Cafe, just south of Kenilworth, in the Blackall Range.

Finishing off 2010: a New Years Eve ride with (left to right) Jolene, Ash and Clancy. After a quick ride around the (now very full) Somerset Dam, we stopped at the bikers' cafe on Mt Glorious, just outside Brisbane.
